The Nor-Fishing Foundation and Trondheim Port Authority have entered into a new agreement that significantly expands the on-water exhibition area available during Nor-Fishing and Aqua Nor in central Trondheim.

The exhibitions will now have access to a total of 20,000 sqm of water-based exhibition space, including 15,000 sqm at Skansen and 5,000 sqm in Brattørbassenget.

For many years, the on-water exhibition has been concentrated at Skansen. The new agreement substantially expands this area, giving exhibitors more space to showcase products in their natural environment – on the water.

– Nor-Fishing and Aqua Nor are important events for Trondheim, both as meeting places for the industries and as visible expressions of the city’s maritime identity. Activating the waterfront and port areas contributes to a more vibrant city and strengthens the region’s position as a leading seafood hub, says Fredrik Jøssund, Maritime Coordinator at Trondheim Port Authority.

Improved logistics and fewer disruptions

Skansen has long served as the base for the on-water exhibition, but the area has at times been affected by other port activity. In cooperation with local stakeholders, Trondheim Port Authority has improved logistics in the area, creating greater predictability, safer conditions, and a better setting for demonstrations.

Unique opportunities for on-water demonstrations

The expanded exhibition area provides even better conditions for full-scale product demonstrations – a key feature of both Nor-Fishing and Aqua Nor.

Exhibitors can showcase vessels, fish pens, feed barges, and other large maritime installations close to the city centre and easily accessible to visitors.

The agreement also strengthens cooperation between the Nor-Fishing Foundation and Trondheim Port Authority in the delivery of both exhibitions. Trondheim Port Authority contributes maritime expertise, coordination, and infrastructure planning to support safe and efficient event execution.

– We are pleased to further develop the on-water exhibition by expanding the available sea area. This improves working conditions for exhibitors and enhances the overall visitor experience. Our cooperation with Trondheim Port Authority is essential to ensuring that Nor-Fishing and Aqua Nor remain key meeting places for the seafood industries, says Kristian Digre, CEO of the Nor-Fishing Foundation.
