Trondheim is mobilizing to strengthen its role as host of the world’s leading meeting place for the seafood industry. The Nor-Fishing Foundation and much of the city’s hotel sector are now intensifying their collaboration to further develop Nor-Fishing and Aqua Nor in Trondheim.
Earlier this week, the Nor-Fishing Foundation and representatives from Trondheim’s hotel industry met to discuss developments in the international exhibition market. The background is the establishment of a new aquaculture exhibition in Lillestrøm.
The city rallies behind the events
The message after the meeting is clear: Trondheim stands united behind Nor-Fishing and Aqua Nor.
The parties are now joining forces in an ambitious initiative to further develop the exhibitions and strengthen Trondheim’s position as an exhibition city.
“ Nor-Fishing and Aqua Nor have a long and strong connection to Trondheim. We have no doubt the exhibitions will remain the industry’s most important meeting places — and together we will continue to strengthen that role.
— Kristian Digre, Managing Director of the Nor-Fishing Foundation
Industry support
The hotel industry and Visit Trondheim propose several initiatives to strengthen the competitiveness of the exhibitions by helping ensure that visitors get more value for the money they spend in the city.
Among the initiatives are:
- Enhanced hosting and increased capacity in the hotel sector to provide an even better experience for participants and exhibitors
- Clearer promotion of Trondheim’s unique qualities as an exhibition city, including its compact city structure, strong professional environments, academic institutions, international accessibility and close proximity to the maritime industry.
A unique meeting place for the global seafood industry
Nor-Fishing has been held in Trondheim since 1965, and Aqua Nor since 1979. The events are among the world’s most important meeting places for technology, innovation, research and business development within the fisheries and aquaculture industries. They are arranged every other year at Trondheim Spektrum.
Nor-Fishing 2026 will take place from 18–20 August, and up to 15,000 visitors are expected to travel to Trondheim during the exhibition week.
